The Walk with a Doc program is designed to provide some general health tips and a moderately-paced walk. This is an out-and-back walk so participants can choose to turn around at any point to customize the length of their walk. This walk will be on paved walking conditions and is accessible for those using a wheelchair. Children are required to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Dogs are welcome if they are on a leash. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited.

Walk Topic: Learn how your sensory system aids in balance and risk reduction of falls.

A Park Rx wellness program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield and supported by Penn State Health with program coordination between Penbrook Parks & Recreation, Susquehanna Township Parks and Recreation, Capital Area Greenbelt Association, and Dauphin County Parks & Recreation.

This is a rain-or-shine event; however, we will not walk in the snow, icy conditions, or thunderstorms. The email you use when registering is where we will contact you should there be any weather modifications necessary. Please check your email 1-hour before the walk time for any weather updates or cancellations.

Things to Know Before You Go:

  • This walk will be on a paved surface and is accessible for wheelchairs.
  • Dress for the weather and wear comfortable supportive shoes.
  • Bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated. You may also bring your own snacks.
  • You may want to bring a hat, sunglasses, or sunscreen.
  • There is trailhead parking at PA-441 (S 28th Street at Dauphin Manor Dr) 
  • There are NO RESTROOMS at this location

This walk is being organized by Penbrook Borough Walk With A Doc group, Capital Area Greenbelt Association, Susquehanna Township Walk With A Doc, and Dauphin County Parks & Recreation Department. We would like to thank the City of Harrisburg Parks & Recreation Department for allowing the use of the park for this walk.
