ABOUT ABOUT

Join us for a 1.25-mile walk at Reservoir Park!

Date: Saturday, November 13, 2021

Time: 11:00 a.m.

This Walk With A Doc program is designed to provide some general health information and a moderately-paced walk around Reservoir Park and the National Civil War Museum including a portion of the Greenbelt. It will be a 1.25-mile loop walking around Reservoir Park and the National Civil War Museum.

The walk is FREE, but we ask that you pre-register so we know how many participants to expect. The first 10 people to register for the walk will be offered a free ticket to the Penbrook Lions Club Pancake Breakfast being held just prior to the walk. One ticket, per registered participant. The pancake breakfast is at the Penbrook Community building located at 150 South 28th Street in Penbrook. If you are one of the first ten to register, you will receive an email with instructions on receiving your free ticket. The breakfast has both drive-thru and dine-in options available.

Additionally, The National Civil War Museum has extended a $10 (normally $14) rate for admission to the Museum following the walk. Vouchers will be provided at the check-in for anyone who would like to tour the museum. Vouchers are valid for normal public museum operating hours on November 13th.

The walk leader will be Doctor Curtis Bone. Dr. Curtis Bone is a physician, epidemiologist, and addictionologist with a Master's degree in epidemiology and board certification in both family medicine and preventive medicine. His training institutions have included Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, UCLA, and Yale. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Penn State Milton Hershey School of Medicine where he leads efforts in curriculum development, research, and patient care innovation. He is the Medical Director of Penn State's Community Health Team, loves the Walk with a Doc program, and strongly believes "Movement is Medicine."

This is a rain or shine event.

Most of the walk will be flat, but there are some slightly elevated areas. The full walk is estimated to take :30 - :45 minutes based on the pace of the walkers. We encourage you to come out and join the walk for as long or as little as you are able.
